Following the right hand entrance into the garden brings you past a traditional field stone retaining wall. The wall was not part of the original design. It was built around a very stubborn and determined pine tree stump. We buried it under a huge pile of brush and tried burning it, cut it up with an axe and chainsaw, dug under it and chopped off all its roots then tried to pull it with the truck. Nothing short of dynamite was going to move it - so... I buried it. I'm really pleased that it stayed forcing me to build the wall since it varies the topography and adds a very nice visual element to the garden. The corner room to the right is the After Dark room (nickname Naughty Bed) where daylilies such as Soul On Fire, Outrageous, All Fired Up, Long Legged Lap Dancer, Pineapple Daiquiri and Loose As A Goose all grow.
