spacerAfter many years of climbing the Corporate ladder, I decided it was time to do something different. Two of my passions are to paint the world with flowers and to develop new varieties of fancy, northern hardy daylilies, and one of Dick's passions is to landscape as much of the world as he can - so we're a good match for each other. In December of 1999, we stumbled onto a beautiful, but very neglected, piece of property with a rich history that captured our hearts and our imagination. We decided to spend the rest of our lives developing it into a garden that would be a smaller scale version of some of the public gardens we've admired.

spacerSpringwood Gardens is located on 145 acres in a rural area just south of Minneapolis. The terrain ranges from jungle to aspen forest to brush to sloughs to alfalfa fields to wide expanses of grass and trees, plus lots of rock walls. The daylily garden and test beds sit high on a hill overlooking the Minnesota River valley. Peak bloom is approximately July 20 - August 10 (and end of April/early May in the greenhouse). We are open to group tours and daylily lovers, and the gardens are handicapped accessible. To learn more about Springwood, go to springwoodgardens.com.
