The English census of 1871 and 1881 respectively show that this is the line of work
she was involved in most of her working life; they also indicate that in 1871
she lived in Bolton and in 1881 in Burnley, both in Lancashire.
She is later found in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire,
where she gave birth to her son John, on 22 septembre 1887.
Catherine health took a turn for the worse when she was admitted
to the Spittals workhouse in Stoke-on-Trent Staffordshire.
She died of phtisis on the 13 August 1890.
Almost three years old, her son John was left behind in the workhouse,
alone in the world.
The 1881 English census also states that Catherine
was living with her brother John's family in Burnley.
Their birthplace is county Mayo, Ireland;
in the 1871 census John's birthplace is Ardagh, Mayo.
