Romania: a Wonderfully Amazing Country

by Camille D.

Howdy! Do you know anything about Romania? If you don't, then read this! Today in Violet's class a great man from Romania came. His name was Gaby Nimat (in English) or Ovidiu Nimt (in Romanian). First, just like you we didn't know anything about this wonderful country but we learned plenty of useful things.

Romania is a beautiful country full of long rivers, of green grass, of deep quiet forests and of a lot of other interesting stuff. The most special things are the buildings. What is so special about them? Well, they're made of wood...by hand! Can you imagine how long it must be to build them? Romania is in Europe. If you look at it on a map it looks like a kind of fish.

People in Romania are very special, too. There are many differences between them and us. Here to become a priest you should not be married but in Romania you have to have a wife to become a priest! In Romania if you're a boy you have to go in the army at least for one year and four months. Romanians are excellent athletes. Gaby said that they already won the three first places at the Olympics. But they aren't just good athletes... They are awesome dressmakers, too. Their colourful dresses are usually made of wool. They are pretty long but extremely beautiful! When they dance it's a real show!

It isn't expensive to travel to Romania but if you plan to live there it can be really expensive for you. However you don't have to pay to go to the university. Yes, you are free to go there without paying but it's not so easy: they take only the best ones.

If I'd ask you to name an important character who lived in Romania I'm sure you'd first think about Dracula... the vampire. Do you really think that Dracula is a vampire? Yes? Well, he's not! Dracula was a true hero in Romania! Yes, believe me he really existed! Dracula was a king. He was horrible enough but for the Romanians he was a true hero. What did he do? He killed all the traitors by driving a post made of wood in them. Nobody wants to die like that. It's really horrible. You must think the same thing but at least it saved a whole country!

Romania has always been a wonderful country but a few years ago it was a country full of wars. One of the wars was against Rome. Now the country is really peaceful and no war is going on.

Romania is a beautiful, peaceful country. It is quite special and really different from ours. You should visit it: it's really amazing!
